STEM Returners has launched its annual survey to understand STEM professionals’ experiences of trying to re-enter the sector after a career break.
Each year we aim to understand experiences and attitudes in our industry, by speaking to a nationally representative group of STEM professionals. We use this information to help highlight the issues our industry faces amidst a growing skills gap and a lack of diversity.
The survey is anonymous and will ask a variety of questions including reasons for a career break and what challenges were faced when attempting to return to work.
Why release an Index every year?
- It will enable STEM Returners to further understand the barriers people face, track the progress UK STEM industries are making, and shine a light on the change needed to create fair opportunities for all.
- We want our research to provide the basis of a whitepaper for reform across a wide range of organisations and institutions.
- We want to influence policy makers from these organisations on why our industry needs fundamental change.
When will the study be released?
The STEM Returners Index 2023 survey is now open to all STEM professionals who have had a gap in their career or who are attempting to return to work or who have recently returned to work. The full link to the 2023 survey is https://online1.snapsurveys.com/STEM-Returners-Index-2023
