STEM Returners are delighted to reveal that we have been nominated for the prestigious Diversity award as part of the 2020 Maritime UK awards!
The awards this year will take on a different format due to the impact of Covid-19, with a live-streamed event held in Plymouth on the 12th November.
With highly respected experts in a variety of different businesses and government departments involved in the judging panel, the event promises to be a special evening of celebration, focussing on the successes of an industry that adds £46bn to the UK economy every year, whilst sustaining over 1 million jobs.
Upon the announcement of the nomination, Natalie Desty, Director and Founder of STEM Returners said;
“We are absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for the Maritime UK awards in Diversity. STEM Returners was created as part of the UKNEST People and Skills group to provide a bridge back to skilled engineers after a career break.
“Since its creation we have returned over 80 engineers to marine engineering permanently of which 45% have been female and 28% from ethnic minority backgrounds. Being recognised by Maritime UK gives us a fantastic platform to continue to welcome back lost and vital skills to the industry.”
The 2020 awards are hosted by Maritime UK South West and delivered by Plymouth City Council. Diamond Sponsors are the MLA College and the University of Plymouth.
