T45 Engineering Support Group Engineer (Electrical)

The Role

  • The Engineering Support Group Engineer (Electrical) role is responsible for carrying out tasks to support the RN led Refit Support Group (RSG) and Maintenance Support Unit (MSU).
  • The role will carry out daily UMMS tasks, CAT ‘A’ maintenance on various Type 45 equipment’s, including fault analysis, repair defects and carryout STOROB activities during Type 45 upkeep periods.
  • The role maintains a safe working environment and ensures compliance with BAE Systems SHE policies and procedures

Engineering support group Core Duties

  • Carryout daily UMMS tasks and CAT ‘A’ maintenance
  • Maintain and report on a regular basis the material state of the ship
  • Carryout defect rectification

Functional Knowledge (Requirements for knowledge of functional work and activities)

  • HNC/HND or equivalent experience in an Engineering discipline
  • Good knowledge of electrical systems and associated equipment on Type 45 Destroyers
  • Experience of carrying out maintenance and defect analysis on the following:
    – Lighting circuits
    – LV motors
    – Testing electrical components such as pressure switched, ROVs
    – PMS/EPMS
  • Ability to be flexible to undertake tasks across any trade disciplines as required, training will be given where required.
  • Be aware of and adhere to statutory regulations (including those of Information Systems, Safety Health & Environment and Security Requirements).

  • Understanding of MoD/industry policy and process in the Maintenance Engineering environment

  • May be required to provide on the job training to new team members
