Cavendish Nuclear, the UK’s leading nuclear service company, is seeking engineers and planners who are looking to return after a career break.
From April 2019, Cavendish Nuclear will be running a STEM Returners programme with placements based in its team supporting the construction of Hinkley Point C power station, the UK’s first new build Nuclear Power Station to be built in decades.
The placements, which will last between 12-13 weeks are aimed at giving experienced professionals the confidence to step back into their careers after taking time off or to provide them with the opportunity to transfer into another field.
The Cavendish Nuclear placements will be delivered in collaboration with the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB).
Emma Lyon, Cavendish Nuclear’ s Head of Learning & Talent Development said, “We are proud to be the first nuclear engineering company to be supporting this fantastic programme.
“These placements provide a valuable opportunity and route for talented people, who may previously have encountered difficulties coming back to work, to restart their career or transfer their skills into a new industry.”
Natalie Desty, Founder of STEM Returners said “We are so excited to be running this programme in partnership with Cavendish Nuclear, our first within the nuclear sector. We pride ourselves in working with innovative and inclusive companies, who value the skills and experience that career break engineers have to offer. We are looking forward to welcoming career break engineers back to a long term and rewarding role within this exciting industry”
Chris Claydon, Chief Executive of the ECITB said, “We are proud to support the STEM Returners’ programme, which is a great initiative from Cavendish Nuclear to harness the talent we already have in this country.
“The ECITB is committed to help the industry recruit skilled workers for some of the major infrastructure projects planned in the UK, such as Hinkley Point C.”
This programme builds on the success of Cavendish Nuclear’ s parent company, Babcock International Group, who is delivering a STEM Returners programme in its Marine Sector.
Cavendish Nuclear and STEM Returners are committed to creating long term back to work opportunities. All candidates will be assessed for a permanent position at the end of a placement and job offers will be made to those successfully fulfilling the programme requirements.
