Job Purpose
The role holder will contribute to the development of the Residential New Build strategy and will be responsible for the Product Roadmap & mobilisation as we work towards a leading position in the market.
Educational Requirement
Relevant engineering degree or equivalent
Essential
- Technical knowledge of energy systems in the built environment
- Has experience and good understanding of the range of products relevant to the new build market across the entire value chain and how to deliver into these markets – understanding both the developer customer and end homeowner customer
- Entrepreneurial team player with an inquisitive mindset and the ability to challenge others
- Strong commercial acumen– ability to understand and evaluate basic financial modelling e.g. NPV, (net present value) payback, IRR (internal rate of return) and financial business cases
- Good level of technical experience and understanding across energy solution technologies for application in UK homes, particularly familiar with SAP ratings and calculations
Role responsibilities
- Act as the go to expert on the needs of developers for navigating the low carbon transition and specifically FHS, Parts L and O of Building Regulations and use of energy related technologies.
- Expert advisor and engineering lead on the suite of technologies that could be deployed by E.ON, or on behalf E.ON, for new build homes and the built environment.
- Work across the new build market to inform build, buy or partner choices as we develop our technical capabilities.
- Highlight synergies across the current and future E.ON portfolio of products and bring them to the New Build market.
- Support and sometimes lead the development of technical delivery capabilities (e.g. heat pump adoption following FHS in the New Build Market, ownership of the HEM design process).
- Lead and manage the roadmap and development of effective propositions for our specified customer segments and industry that deliver value
- Lead and drive understanding of relevant markets and how we best leverage our position with customers
- Work with the internal Commercial and Pricing teams to develop and inform appropriate energy tariffs
- Lead and drive identifying and seizing opportunities to enhance sales pipeline (and complement existing offer/proposition) and improve market access
- Lead and manage a portfolio of complex products and integrated propositions across the entire value chain
- Create investment proposals and obtain funding for key product development/initiatives/trials/ acquisitions
- Lead virtual teams to deliver product development, concept engineering, delivery and management, ensuring excellent customer experience throughout the product lifecycle
- Lead and manage defining the market potential in each of the activity areas by bringing together customer needs, competitor analysis, E.ON capabilities and distilling out the key commercial opportunities and next steps
- Scan the external marketplace to identify growth opportunities in adjacent/new markets and/or value-add activities and work with the central product house to develop those ideas into propositions
- Support the commercial team with competitor insights/market intel to perform in-depth financial reconciliation and negotiation including negotiation of terms with key service providers to improve gross margin position.
- Lead and manage a range of virtual key stakeholders across both internal and external departments and contacts plus any external suppliers to ensure there are comprehensive plans in place to promote and develop our product and proposition roadmap
- Building strong robust relationships across the organisation and with the third parties to deliver this vision
- Produce relevant product information in order to support the creation of marketing literature and activity
- Track market trends, across competitors, consumer behaviour and technology, to identify opportunities and threats
- Deliver concept and feasibility for new product planning
- Lead post launch product management (strategically and tactically)
- Lead and develop strategic supplier relationship and management to assure the overall performance of external relevant suppliers
- Liaise closely with relevant legal, financial, regulatory, and operational colleagues to ensure product relevance/compliance
- Support Legal with the creation of terms and conditions, liaising closely with relevant legal, financial, regulatory, and operational colleagues.
- Assist in the adoption and sign-off of new products, providing detailed IP, cost-benefit analysis and risk mitigation.
