STEM Returners have a brand new role as a STEM Returner within Babcock International’s Nuclear Operations division. This role would be suitable to all returners with a STEM related degree as well as some prior experience within an engineering or STEM environment.
About
Devonport Royal Dockyard (DRDL) is a nuclear licensed/authorised site that supports the operations, overhaul, refuel, upkeep, decommissioning and defueling of the Royal Navy’s fleet of submarines.
Nuclear Operations are an excellent area for an ambitious graduate to get on the career ladder and make significant progress in their learning and development in operations, maintenance, project delivery, management and nuclear governance.
There is great scope in growth and opportunity to take on increasing amounts of responsibility, whether managing teams of people or governing and dictating the management of nuclear facilities and work on board submarines. With the future expansion of the site and current demographics, many new positions and opportunities are being created.
Governance
Within the Nuclear Site, there are 4 main plant/facilities (9/10 Dock, Submarine Refit Complex (SRC), Nuclear Utilities Building (NUB) and Cross Site Services) each is led by a Plant Manager and a team of nuclear professionals who ensure the availability of safe, operable facilities to support the submarine production programme.
The DSPE roles are part of the Plant Management team, who undertake the daily work required to ensure the facilities are operated as required by the various site safety cases and to comply with the ONR Licence Conditions.
These roles will be involved in activities to support the ongoing business as usual activities plus direct involvement of the business improvement initiatives to support the long term growth and development of the nuclear site, such that it is known to operate using nuclear industry best practice.
