OVERVIEW OF ROLE
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, alongside skilled Systems, Mechanical and Software Engineers, you will focus on the electronic development of industrial coding and marking. Located in head office in Cambridge but collaborating with others team members based in Germany and Sweden, work as a cohesive R&D function. Guide and mentor junior team members, take ownership and leading design projects and continually improve the way we deliver.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
• Responsible for design, development and testing of electronic designs and support creation of new products.
• Contribute to the effective management of projects and the delivery of new products.
• Understand our customers’ needs to specify and design systems and solutions to meet their needs
• Take ownership of electronic projects and tasks to deliver solutions
• Relative to the requirements defined, assess options, make recommendations, and select appropriate. solutions to meet those requirements.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers to create a motivated and ambitious team of engineers.
• Continuously improve expertise, knowledge, and design methods to increase efficiency and value.
WHAT YOU WILL DELIVER IN THE FIRST 6,12,18 MONTHS
Over the initial 6 months you will be expected to gain knowledge of Domino products, design processes and build a network of contacts within the business. You will do this by supporting the electronics team to deliver projects, working closely with other engineers who have this knowledge. This might involve supporting existing products where exposure to more products and processes is available faster and so provides a better opportunity to learn.
Within 12 months you will be expected to be delivering independently and have gained sufficient knowledge to pick up and deliver work packages using and improving our processes and procedures efficiently.
By 18 months you will have established yourself as a senior engineer within the R&D team and junior engineers will be turning to you for advice and guidance. You will be aware of how Domino works as a business, its value streams, and long-term objectives. You will have built a track record of deliveries, working across disciplines. This role will involve you completing:
• Requirements capture – to ensure designs meets the needs of the customer and compliance standards.
• System design – understanding systems such as power, noise, EMC, communication requirements.
• Schematic design – from requirements to delivery of tested system into production.
• PCB design – management of off-site layout engineers to deliver required designs efficiently.
ABOUT YOU
• You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in Electronic Engineering or a related subject.
• Have experience of design experience within a product development environment.
• Have experience of designing a wide variety of analogue and digital circuits.
• Have supported these into volume production using a global supply chain.
• Designing for EMC and product safety compliance is something you understand and commit to as a product deliverable.
• Design verification and compliance to requirements at PCB, integration, and system level.
• Support products through their lifecycle from development to production, including supporting production. test to ensure high yields and reliability in the field.
• Working in cross-functional way with multi discipline teams at all levels within the company.
• Self-starting and self-supporting. Eager to learn, gain knowledge and share this knowledge.
• Project management skills – setting and working to delivery dates, un-blocking issues.
• Leadership qualities to guide fellow engineers, lead tasks and make decisions.
