Skillset and Experience:
Primarily development of designs, using AutoCAD and/or Inventor. Including:
- Knowledge of the fundamentals within your engineering discipline – mechanical or similar,
- Use of CAD systems (e.g. AutoCAD and/or Inventor),
- Experience creating designs at a micro level (e.g. nuts and bolts) rather than a macro level (e.g. plant layout) for a highly regulated industry
- Ability to work to tight deadlines,
- A strong team player.
Any required qualifications:
- A recognised Engineering Certificate such as HNC / HND.
- A full UK driving licence.
Security Clearance requirements (if applicable):
Eligibility for SC level security clearance is required – To be eligible for clearance for this role you need to be a British National and have lived in the UK for the past 5 years with no breaks.
Outline of initial work/role to be undertaken during the 12 week placement:
To provide discipline focused support to the project delivery team. The Designer is responsible for the production of drawings and basic calculations for the Transport Container team. The Designer is required to support the production of project deliverables where necessary
As a Designer in the Transport Container team you will join our burgeoning team which you will deploy your experience and design techniques and appreciate the whole life-cycle of engineering consultancy projects. This will include initial concept design through optioneering, detailed design, substantiation of designs, support to manufacturing of the waste packages across the UK, and supporting operational fleets.
As well as receiving first-class training and support in design activities, you’ll work alongside and learn from some of the most respected and highly qualified professionals in their field.
- You will be an active team member in a supportive work environment, contributing to the achievement of real business objectives and assigned to live projects – some of which are the largest and most exciting projects taking place within the nuclear industry.
- The area of Engineering (in particular, designs that can be manufactured) is treated as a part of the formal design process and is also vital for achieving regulatory acceptance for our customers.
- You will interface with other engineering disciplines; project managers, production engineers, inspectors, nuclear safety, licensing and engineering analysis specialists.
- The portfolio of projects has many waste packages in manufacturing phase or recently manufactured, so you get to see your hard work come to life!
