Our Opportunity
Due to expansion, we are recruiting for Hardware Engineers who will be a key member of the Hardware Development team developing the next generation of Maritime Sonar Systems.
You will report to a Hardware Engineering Discipline Manager. The Hardware Engineering department is a multi-discipline based department is looking for individuals from one the following backgrounds;
- Hardware Architects
- Analogue Engineers
- Acoustic Engineers
- Mechanical Analysist
- Mechanical Engineers
- Electro Mechanical Engineers
The key individual responsibilities can cover any of the following, (you will not need to have experience in all of the below):
- Architecture and design of maritime electrical system for safety and reliability, in accordance to regulatory and military standards.
- Delivery of Electrical aspects of maritime system design and ensure it complies with the relevant legislation.
- Support and mentor other members of the team
Or
- Design and development of firmware using Hardware Description Languages or High Level Synthesis Languages
- Verify firmware using Hardware Description languages or Hardware Verification Languages
- Integration of firmware on the target hardware
Or
- Conduct the design and development of underwater sensing technologies.
- Modelling, prototyping/proof of concept, acoustic testing, integration and qualification activities, design for cost/manufacture, technical reporting

- Displays enthusiasm about learning new skills and technology, and takes their own self-development seriously
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an appropriate engineering, maths or science discipline (e.g. acoustics, physics, manufacturing engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- An ability to work as a key member of the team
- A desire to take responsibility for your professional development
- Digital electronic design in hardware development language (VHDL)
- Digital Signal Processing techniques
- Understanding of the Engineering Development Lifecycle, including integration into complex systems and working with relevant disciplines i.e. Mechanical, Electronics, Systems.
- Understanding of CE Marking, or other relevant industry standards within safety critical fields would be beneficial
- Focus on LV Design and Systems, knowledge/experience of low voltage directive
