SLR’s busy European Geotechnical Team has enjoyed continued commercial success working across a range of industry sectors. Consequently, we currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Engineer to join our established team.
This position is ideal for someone who is keen to develop their skills and knowledge in geotechnical engineering and looking to become, or already on the path to becoming, a Chartered Geologist (CGeol) or engineer (CEng). Given the diverse nature of SLR’s business, you will be given the opportunity to gain a wide range of experience and work across multiple geoscience disciplines.

About the role
With support from senior colleagues, initial duties and responsibilities will include:
- Health & Safety Risk Assessment and Planning
- Assisting with the planning and procurement of ground investigations
- Site supervision of ground investigations and earthworks
- Scheduling and management of laboratory testing following ground investigation
- Installation of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring of readings
- Geotechnical analysis including limit equilibrium analysis
- Factual reporting
This role may also support other offices and technical disciplines, such as Land Quality, Hydrology and Civil Engineering.
Whilst some projects will be based in the local area, the role may also involve supervision of projects in other locations throughout the UK and overseas for periods of up to 3 months at a time.
About you

- Geology, geotechnical / civil engineering or related geology-based discipline degree, or relevant MSc
- Good understanding of the general principles of civil engineering, primarily related to earthworks
- Demonstrable experience in geotechnical / civil engineering
- Full driving licence valid in the UK
- Eligibility for an entry level membership to a professional body
