Skillset and Experience:
We are looking for a self-motivated, capable individual with experience and characteristics that will complement and synergise with the existing team. A genuine interest in and understanding of the fundamental principles of structural design is expected. The Engineer would predominantly be substantiating reinforced concrete and steel structures and capable of producing and/or checking typical project deliverables, through all design phases, and to recognised relevant codes and standards.
Engineering experience:
- Good understanding of the fundamentals within your engineering discipline including safety legislation and statutory regulations.
- Experience of successfully delivering design solutions.
- Experience and ability in the analysis of structural frames and members using proprietary software packages (e.g. STAAD, Autodesk ROBOT).
- Ability to design and/or navigate in a 3D BIM environment.
- Experience of leading design teams.
In addition to the engineering experience above the following is also required:
- Good level of commercial awareness.
- Previous experience of working within a highly regulated industry.
- Good organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Experience of managing sub-contracts.
Responsibilities:
- Development of designs to satisfy the technical specification.
- Production of design deliverables throughout the design process.
- Checking/approval of discipline specific design deliverables.
- Contribution to design reviews and safety reviews.
- Ensuring quality and timely delivery of design documentation throughout all phases of the design process.
- Compliance with safety legislation and statutory regulations.
- Develop cost effective technical solutions.
- Staff development.
- Managing safety, health, and environmental requirements, reinforcing the Nuvia’s SHE culture.
- Management of contractors.
- Provide technical consultancy.
Any required qualifications:
- Minimum HND in Civil Structural Engineering with significant experience.
- Able and motivated to work towards, or already have, Incorporated and/or Chartered status with the IStructE or ICE.
Security Clearance requirements (if applicable):
- Eligibility for SC level security clearance is required – To be eligible for clearance you need to be a British National and have lived in the UK for the past 5 years with no breaks. Other Nationalities may also be considered, but 5 + years living in the UK is essential.
Outline of initial work/role to be undertaken during the 12 week placement:
- Familiarisation of company, team and project(s).
- To provide support to new and ongoing live projects.
- Support the development of less experienced engineers where appropriate.
Location(s):
- Warrington, home/remote working and occasional visits to suppliers and clients’ premises.
Working hours and pattern:
- 37.5 Hours week – hybrid (at sites above)
