ENGINEERING RETURNERS GIVEN A LIFT IN FLINTSHIRE THANKS TO LOCAL EMPLOYER ACE LIFTS

7th November 2018 | STEMReturners

STEM Returners is teaming up with ACE LIFTS to address the engineering skills shortage in Flintshire by attracting back engineers after a career break to work on iCOM installation and data analytics.

Established for 30 years, ACE are different from other lift companies, we are passionate about R&D; we manufacture our own lift control panels in house and we have developed an online remote monitoring system the i-COM, compatible with any lift, whatever the type or manufacturer.

Quality is at the forefront of everything we do, one of our main objectives is to continually exceed our customer’s expectations by providing all our staff with excellent learning and training support to ensure ACE Lifts always surpasses the industry norm.  We aim to reduce Lift breakdowns to below industry average by the end of 2019.

Engineers often face an insurmountable barrier to returning to work after a career break, be that because of a perception by hirers of a deterioration of skills, or a lack of flexibility. ACE Lifts innovative programme is showing career break returners that they really value those skills that they have gained whilst out of industry, and that they can return to their career flexibly. All programmes offer the option of flexible working and shift patterns that suit the operational requirements of the business and those looking for something that’s not always 9-5!

The programme is open to men and women in Flintshire and surrounding areas who have taken any length career break, as well as those who wish to transfer sectors but lack the relevant work experience.  We are keen to consider all STEM candidates as full transfer training will be provided.  Candidates with Electronic experience are particularly urged to apply.

Candidates signing up to the ‘STEM Returners’ programme will join a paid 12-week structured return to work programme, which will include soft skills training, technical training and on the job experience, as well as coaching and mentoring support.

At the end of the 12 weeks, job offers will be made by ACE Lifts to those who have shown the necessary skills and aptitude to join the engineering specialists. This isn’t just work experience, but a genuine opportunity to restart careers at an exciting time for ACE Lifts, who’s strategic financial objectives are to grow at a rate of 20% per annum for the next 3 years.

Candidates wishing to apply have until 2nd January and can do so through: https://www.stemreturners.com/returner-registration/

Joanne Roberts, HR Director at ACE Lifts said “We pride ourselves on our industry knowledge and expertise by constantly pushing ourselves and boundaries to create successful outcomes for our customers. We support and encourage continual individual personal growth and recognise that its people who get results and create the success.”

Natalie Desty, Founder of STEM Returners said “We are so excited to be running this programme in partnership with ACE Lifts. We pride ourselves in working with innovative and inclusive companies who value the skills and experience that career break engineers have to offer who are keen to welcome back candidates on a rewarding and flexible basis”
